Can you get a start off of an African Violet plant?

Reply:Idk, but u can get a bump off a poppy plant!
Reply:Sure, real easy. Nip off a real healthy looking leaf and put it in a water glass filled about 1 to 1 1/2 inches (you don't want the water to touch the leaf) and set it where you keep the plant. I don't know how long it will take to root--just keep an eye on it. Or, you can buy a rooting hormone to put on the cutting and put it in some vermiculite or potting soil to root. Make sure you use a good quality potting soil, not top soil.
Reply:Take the leaf and stick it in the soil and water. seen it done many times.
Reply:Hello,

I just transplants 17 of them that I rooted.

I do not do the water thing, they root rot and die. I put them in shallow soil. Here I will add a pic f mine when I put them in the soil;

Reply:I know you can,,but I am like you,,either I am too impatient or I have bad luck .. i know I have some old African Violets like 10 yrs old and I just water them when the bowl they are in drys up,,and lots of times I forget...They like being left alone I think... I know they have food especially for them but I never think to use it..I just keep them in a bowl of water and they get the amt they need from the bottom ..They Do not like to be touched at all or watered on the leaves.GOOD LUCK!
Reply:Darby is right, if you put a tea bag in the water, it will help.
