I have bought some dark violet calla lilies and when i potted them in Mid August the flowers came white?

They turned out white with only some hints of pink. I live on a warm island around 35C chould it be the reason why they became white? Thanks

I don't think the heat had anything to do with the color change. You more than likely purchased mis-labled tubers. Did you pick them from a "bulk" bin at the garden center? They may have been tossed into the wrong bin by other buyers, or they may have been mislabled at the growers locale before shipment was made. The heat will not change the color, as calla's grow best in warmer climates anyway. If it gets too hot however, they should be planted in a partly shady location for best flowering. They also like a loose, well drained soil. Here is a link with some info on growing Calla's and some of the problems associated with their culture. Hope this answers your question.
