Are there Ultra Violet rays from the sun on cloudy day? Are there Ultra Violet rays in reflected sun light?

Is have had catarack operations so my natural lenses have been replaced with plastic. I am told I must protect my eyes at all times from the UV rays of the sun.

Are there Ultra Violet rays from the sun on cloudy day? Are there Ultra Violet rays in reflected sun light?
On 1 yes, water and water vapour are not especially good at blocking UV light. This actually can mean your eyes are more at risk on cloudy days, because your pupils will be more dilated.

On 2, it depends on what it is reflecting from. From water, snow, ice and the like, there is a lot. From darker surfaces there will often be much less as it is absorbed.
Reply:Yes there are. Ultra violet A (UVA) and ultra violet B (UVB) rays have a short wavelength and can penetrate clouds unlike the longer frequencies of light.
Reply:Yes, in fact you can even get sunburn on a cloudy day. 80% of the sun's rays can penetrate clouds.
