What should I feed my african violet and how often, I don't have any flowers?

Either lack of fertilizer or too infrequent feeding is one of the reasons for lack of blossoms. Most growers use a "soil-less" potting mix with little nutrient content; this requires using a dilute fertilizer solution each time the plant is watered.

Peters 12-36-14 is our recommendation. Mix 1/4 teaspoon per gallon of water and use this mixture each time you water. Use "Natures Miracle" sprinkled over the top of the soil every 10 weeks. This will increase the amount of blooming by 4 times.

use african violet food make sure it gets the morning sunlight and never under any circumstances pour water on the leaves or flowers water it from the root up
Reply:I don't feed my African violets. I just water them from the bottom. I pick my plants up out of roomy decorator pots, pour in some water 1/2 inch and then set the plant back down into it. Water again when I feel the dirt is dry (about a week). Protect from direct sunlight but they like south windows. Flowers come soon enough. Don't worry. Rotate often, they turn towards the light and don't water or touch their leaves. Pinch out ugly leaves and dried up blossoms. If you must then dust with a soft brush.
Reply:Feeding african violets is tricky... first you have to get them to smoke some weed so they get the munchies, then you get them dump chips and leftover pizza on them !
Reply:Garden Centers have food speciafically for african violets.
Reply:You can sow animal feces like cow feces around the flower and you can do that onces month, it's minimal, and pour water over flower twice times in the day morning and evening.
