What is wrong with my Violet?

The leaves have yellow spots, some have holes and some leaves are squishy. I water the plant from the bottom when the soil is dry.

What is wrong with my Violet?
Sounds like underwatering and needing a bit less strong sunlight. Perhaps try this:

Fill up a bucket with water and drop the entire plant it. Give it five minutes to soak, then take it out. Give it a foliuar feed, and put it in a place whre it gets less direct sun, like behind a gauze curtain/lace curtain/voile. Don't water again until the soil starts drying out.
Reply:I have grown african violets for years and have had pretty good luck with them through trial and error. The spots are from water getting on the leaves and/or from too much direct sunlight. The holes are most likely narrow and some may be as long as the width of the leaf. This is from moisture on the rim of your plastic pot where the leaf rest on the rim. The squishy leaves are from one of two things first over watering and second waiting too long between watering. I let my soil get dry but not completely dry between waterings, I only water from the bottom of the pot in a bowl or in shallow water in the sink. I keep my plants in a west window where it gets direct sunlight in the evening for about an hour. They should not be in direct sunlight during mid-morning to late afternoon. These plants prefer indirect sunlight and do not like to be moved around. So once you find a spot they do well in do not move them. I also fertilize once a month and always remove dead flower shoots and leaves when they are completely dead. Hope this helps and good luck with your violets.
Reply:Too much water and possibly too much sun.

I water my African violets only when they are quite dry. I water them from the top with room temp. water and have had big healthy plants for years.

I use Schultz African violet food according to directions.
Reply:Sounds like you have over watered. Be careful to avoid water on the leaves. Is it crowning? (The center stem is thick and tall.)
