Does ultra violet light hurt the fishes...especially when they are pregnant. what if i change lights everyday.

i have a white light and ultraviolet light. in the morning i leave the white light on. but before i sleep i change it to ultra violet light

Does ultra violet light hurt the fishes...especially when they are pregnant. what if i change lights everyday.
Nothing living should be exposed to uv light for long periods of time without a glass shield to absorb the uv rays. If it is an aquarium bulb, however, it is most likely actinic. Actinic looks like uv and is of a similar spectrum, but is not harmful. Find out for sure if it is uv or not and use a glass cover if it is to absorb the uv rays.
Reply:Do you mean UV, like an aquatic plant light that would help them grow? If that's all it is, it's not going to hurt the fish, but it's not really doing anything either since the fish don't need it...
