Which spelling of Violet do you like better and why?
Violette, because it is more feminine. It's the feminine form of purple in french.

Reply:I like the spelling Violet. When your child gets older they may want to get something personalized from a store (you know, like name plates or a mug) and it'll be hard to find their name if you go with a non-conventional spelling.
Reply:well, there's two different pronunciations you're spelling, so it would change the name... with Violet (and Vilet), the emphasis is on the Vi sound (VI-o-let), and with Violette (and Violett), the emphasis is on the last syllable, the "lette" (vi-o-LETTE)... so if you wanted to name your girl Violet, I'd go with exactly how it's supposed to be spelled. And if you want the second pronunciation, go with Violette (no E looks weird).
