When my sister was a baby (30 years ago), she had really bad diaper rash, and after trying many different products (mainly zinc based) the doctor finally told my Mom about something called (I think) "violet magenta". All I really remember is that it turned everything it touched a deep purple color, and that it worked wonderfully when nothing else did. I'm looking for it in the pharmacy but can't find it. Does anyone else know what this stuff is? Is it called some brand name now?

Genetian Violet, its available at most drugstores without a prescription.
